Liffin, the leading supplier of premium accommodation solutions to experience-led events, is looking for a new addition to its dynamic team. Based in Utrecht and reporting to the Interim Finance Director and Managing Director, the Senior Financial Controller is a key role and will manage the finance & administration function.

A London-based global platform of premium live music events and event service businesses. Superstruct owns and operates 80+ large-scale festivals in Europe and Australia and is the leading operator in the Netherlands. The portfolio includes operators and festivals such as Zwarte Cross, ID&T, Apenkooi, Wacken Open Air, Parookaville and Sziget and service businesses such as Liffin, Interstage, Playground and Festival Travel.

The Senior Financial Controller will play a crucial role in the overall financial management and success of Liffin. The successful candidate will be highly organised and detail-oriented and oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting and administration, ensuring financial stability and compliance with relevant regulations. This will include overseeing day-to-day financial operations and working closely with the Interim Finance Director and Managing Director on planning and strategic projects. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a diverse range of tasks, from detailed financial analysis to the implementation of policies and procedures that support the company's stability and growth.

Founded in 2018, Liffin is a fast-growing supplier of high-end premium accommodation solutions to large-scale festivals and top sports events. Whilst the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK are Liffin’s core markets, the company has also built up a healthy pipeline of new business and expansion opportunities across Europe.

Liffin offers direct sales and rentals, covering a wide range of unique sleeping experiences, from customised pop-up tents to luxury hotel suites with ensuite bathrooms. Liffin provides customised solutions aligned to specific event types and target groups and places great emphasis on sustainability through e.g. natural materials and re-use.

Liffin also provides clients with end-to-end support in turning ideas and concepts into functional solutions of high quality through its experienced team with expertise in procurement, planning, on-site operations and logistics.
The Senior Financial Controller will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that contribute to the overall financial health and stability of the company:

Financial accounting

  • Oversee bookkeeping, payroll, taxes, month-end and year-end close
  • Oversee internal controls, including spending controls
  • Ensure compliance with local law, tax provisions and financial regulations
  • Maintain General Ledger
  • Manage cash flow
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Co-ordinate and supervise year-end audit
  • Manage relationships with bank, external accountants and auditor

Financial planning

  • Drive the budget process, ensuring effective challenge and timely delivery
  • Work with budget holders to monitor variances vs. budget and identify corrective actions
  • Regularly monitor the company’s order book and sales pipeline, evaluating the timing and magnitude of revenues and key risks and opportunities
  • Ensure budget discrepancies are reported to management on a timely basis
  • Review year-end performance and identify trends, highlight issues and work with department heads to identify improvement initiatives

Management information

  • Prepare and deliver monthly reports covering financial and operational performance
  • Monitor targets and KPIs and ensure timely delivery of insightful information to management and departments to support effective decision-making
  • Perform unit economics analyses to evaluate profitability drivers and areas of improvement
  • Provide financial support for special projects, including cost-benefit analyses and assessments of strategic decisions
  • Support the evaluation of efficiency improvements in e.g. procurement and supply chain
  • Conduct scalability analysis, examining how increases in order volumes affect revenue, cost and profit margins, to deliver growth ambitions in current and new markets
  • Project management, including planning, monitoring / controlling and closing
  • Oversee submission of monthly actuals and budget reporting into the Superstruct Group financial consolidation and reporting system
  • Work in close collaboration with the CFO of ID&T as well as the London-based finance team of Superstruct Entertainment

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in finance, with 2-3 years in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • CPA certification considered a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a small, dynamic team
  • Expert Excel user with ability to manage and manipulate large volumes of data
  • Experience in implementing financial processes
  • Experience working with ERP system Exact Online considered a plus
  • Strong understanding of principles of unit economics
  • International work experience considered a plus
  • Fluent or advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written)
  • Prior experience in events industry considered a plus
  • Availability to travel, as required
